Pelham's Roofs From the I-65 Growth Years
Pelham didn't incorporate until July 10, 1964, and most of its housing dates from the growth that followed along the I-65 corridor from the 1970s through the 1990s -- subdivisions built quickly enough that gutter systems were often standard builder-grade rather than sized for each roof. An F2 tornado hit Pelham on March 16, 1973, and another crossed from Helena through Pelham to Inverness on March 27, 1994, each round of storm repair layering new roofing over the original builder-grade setup.
