Mountain Brook's Village Rooflines Since 1929
Robert Jemison Jr.'s 1929 plan for Mountain Brook, built around English Village, Mountain Brook Village, and Crestline Village, put many homes on wooded, sloped lots along Red Mountain and Shades Mountain; the city incorporated in 1942. Steep, tree-shaded lots like these put extra strain on gutters at every roof valley where two rooflines meet.
