Homewood's Streetcar-Era Roofs
Homewood formed in 1926 from the merger of Edgewood, Rosedale, and Grove Park, and Edgewood's own history goes back further still -- it had an electric streetcar line running into downtown Birmingham by 1911. Many of the roofs in these century-old neighborhoods have been re-covered several times since, often without revisiting the gutter and downspout sizing that came with the original roof.
